Itinerary - Chipursan Valley Tour
Below is the day-to-day trip plan of our Chipursan Valley Tour. The customizable plan is designed to give you a blend of nature exploration, adventure, and culture retreat.
Day 01: Gilgit to Passu, Gojal Hunza.
On this day, our guide and driver will pick you up from the airport, and you will travel to Hunza. Explore Gulmit village, Hussaini Suspension Bridge, Ghulkin, Borith Lake, and other attractions in Gojal Valley. Taste local food at Bozlanj Café Gulmit. Drive to Passu village and spend the evening near the famous Passu Cones.
Day 02: Passu To Chipursan Valley. Explore Yarzirech, Past Kirmin, Wuch Kirmin, and Reshit villages.
On this day of the Chipursan Valley Tour, continue your journey on the famed Karakoram Highway and turn east after crossing the Sost Market. Drive on the bumpy Chipursan Road alongside the river. You will come across barren lands, bumpy roads, and rough terrain before you arrive at Yarzirech - the first settlement of the valley.
Things you will do while traveling to Chipursan:
- Watch polo matches either at Shersabz or Reshit Polo Ground.
- Visit the traditional floor mill at Kirmin village, locally known as Khudorgh.
- Experience a Yak or Horse Safari. Enjoy a horse ride from Reshit to Sherzab village.
Day 03: Chipursan Exploration - Visit Ispenj, Zudkhoon, Yeshkuk, and Baba Ghundi Shrine.
On this day of the journey, advance further north and explore the lesser-known beauties of Chipursan Valley. Pass through Ispenj and Shitmerg to reach Zudkhoon. Zudkhoon means the “first village”. The Silk Route travelers, after traversing the Pamirs for several days, had replenished their provisions in this village. Here’s how you will spend the day:
- Chipursan is a village of mythology. Upon arrival at Zudkoon, listen to heroic stories and legendary tales, such as the story of Kumpir Deyor - the Old Women's Village and other daring stories from the ancient Silk Route era.
- Walk past the wonderful ambiance and verdant meadows of Yeshkuk. Taking advantage of the less crowded area, enjoy a refreshing swim in the nearby lakes.
- Discover the Shrine of the famed Tajik saint Baba Ghundi. Hike further to the summer pasture of Zudkhoon and capture the shepherds rounding their animals.
- When visiting Chipursan Valley during the summers, soak in the joyous Baba Ghundi Summer Festival filled with local culture and tradition.
Day 04: Passu and Gojal Exploration.
Have breakfast and embark on the picturesque journey to Lower Gojal. Capture the famed Passu Cathedrals. Travel further to Borith Lake, where you will be fascinated by the calm and tranquil serenity.
After watching the natural treasure at Borith, continue the journey towards Gulmit. Visit the Gulmit Carpet Center, which is a treasure trove of local handicrafts and souvenirs. Hike to the Ondra Poyga, where you’ll be fascinated by the panoramic views of Shisper Peak, Passu Cones, Gulmit, Ghulkin, and Shishket village - all at once. Conclude the fourth day of your Chipursan Valley Tour with a peaceful overnight stay at Moksha Resort Gulmit.
Day 05: Return Home.
On this day, following the Karakoram Highway, head back to Gilgit. Drive past the cherry, apple, and apricot orchards of Nagar Valley. Complete your Chipursan Valley Tour and begin your return journey towards Islamabad.
