The Batura Glacier trek is a unique adventure in the Karkoram Range, alongside the world's 7th-longest glacier and Pakistan’s 4th-longest glacier outside the polar region. The adventure begins on the outskirts of Passu village, in the Upper Hunza region.

Itinerary - Batura Glacier Trek
Explore the detailed itinerary of the tour. Each day is designed to offer a unique experience in Hunza Valley. Visit beautiful landscapes, experience scenic trekking trails, and immerse yourself in local culture of the region.
Day 01 of Batura Glacier Trek - Fly to Gilgit and drive to Passu village
On the first day of the Batura Glacier Trek, fly to Gilgit City either from Islamabad or Lahore. Enjoy the scenery of the Karakoram, Himalayas, and Hindukush mountains, all at once. Our guide and driver will receive you at the airport, and the journey will continue towards Passu village. During the day, you will come across:
- Beautiful valleys of Gilgit-Baltistan, such as Danyor, Sultanabad, Nomal, and Nagar Valley.
- At Nagar, you will witness Rakaposhi (7,788 meters), the 27th highest peak on earth.
- Travelers can taste the famous Chapshro, a local bread filled with a mixture of Yak or sheep meat with vegetables, cooked over slow heat.
- You can witness beautiful attractions, such as Attabad Lake, Hunza Sacred Rocks - the ancient carvings of Buddhist travelers along the Silk Route, and Gulmit village.
- The night will be spent in Passu village.
Day 02: Trek to Yunzben or Hussaini Batura Camp Site
On this day of the adventurous journey to Batura Valley, the participants will commence the adventurous journey from the outskirts of Passu village - Jonobod. The first section of the trek starts with a steep ascent. As you reach the top, the Batura Glacier will gradually show up. During the day, you will explore and discover.
- The first glimpse of the 7th-longest glacier in the world.
- Trek either to Yunzben or to the Hussaini settlement - Summer Pasture of Hussaini, that is on the left side of the glacier.
- Spend the night in camps near the glacier and enjoy stargazing. The Milky Way and stars are clearly visible from the mountains of Hunza Valley that allows visitors for a breathtaking stargazing experience.
Day 03: Cross Batura Glacier and Arrival at Yeshperth
On the third day of the Batura Glacier Trek, you will experience crossing the 7th-longest glacier in the world. As you begin traversing through the ice bed, you will notice the glacier features two contrasting sections. You will first walk through a gravel-covered surface before entering the white exposed ice. After an hour of walking on the 4th longest glacier of Pakistan, you will finally arrive at Yeshperth. During the day you will experience:
- A traverse through one of the longest glaciers in the world.
- As you cross the glacier and arrive at Yeshperth, you will meet the local Wakhi community.
- Also, you will get a beautiful view of the Batura Muztagh, also known as the Batura Walls that feature towering peaks, such as the Shishper Peak, Passu Sar, Ultar Sar, and Batura Sar.
- Also, you will interact with the local Wakhi community of Passu village and get a closer look at their traditions and how they have survived deep in such remote locations for centuries.
Day 04: Fitma Hail and Gushasem Discover
On this day, wake up early in the morning to capture and witness the first rays of light hitting the aesthetic Batura Peaks. Enjoy a warm cup of tea served with omelets, fruit jams, and milk cream. Begin your journey towards Fitma Hail and Gushasem. These two meadows are further deep in the Batura Valley. During the day you will experience:
- A trek alongside the Batura Glacier with mesmerizing views of the white-bedded glacier as far as the eye can see.
- Along the way, you will meet and interact with local shepherds, grazing their sheep, goats, and yaks.
- You will savour delicious and organic food such as Qurut, Payae (Yogurt), Zeegh (Lassi), Rughun (butter), Yak meat, and many mountain vegetables you might have never tasted before.
- After exploring Fitma Hail and Gushasem, trek back and spend another night in the tranquil settings of Yeshperth.
Day 05: Trek back to Passu village
On this day of the Batura Glacier Trek, the return journey will begin. You will again traverse through the Batura Glacier. After finishing the glaciated section, you will trek further for 3 hours to reach Passu village. Our driver will pick you up and transfer you to the hotel.
Day 06: Fly back home
As the last day approaches, our guide and driver will drop you at Gilgit Airport. While boarding the flight back to Islamabad, wave a goodbye to our team and conclude your Batura Glacier Trek.
