Itinerary - Beldihail Meadows Trek
Explore the detailed itinerary of the tour. Each day is designed to offer a unique experience in Hunza Valley. Visit beautiful landscapes, experience scenic trekking trails, and immerse yourself in local culture of the region.
Day 01: Fly to Gilgit and Drive to Gulmit Village.
On this day of the Beldihail Meadows Trek, fly to Gilgit and drive to Gulmit, Gojal, Hunza. You will be greeted by our team in Gulmit village. To acclimatize to the environment and high-altitude, hike to Ondra Poyga. Enjoy the picture-perfect views of Gulmit, Shishket, and Ghulkin village against Passu Cones in the background.
At Ondra Fort, our professional guide will share the fascinating history of the village and the story behind the ruins of the fort. The Ondra Fort sits atop a cliff in Hunza Valley, which was built to safeguard Gulmit village from Intruders. After an evening full of storytelling and history, you will trek back to the village and stay the night in a local guest house.
Day 02: Take a boat ride to Bulbul Keshk and Trek to Shawshaw.
On the second day of the Beldihail Trek, you will drive from Gulmit to Shishket village. Cruise through the famous Attabad Lake to reach Bulbul Keshk - a spring pasture of Gulmit village. The first section of the trek is demanding. You will ascend the sheer slopes of Bulbul Keshk to reach Shawshaw Meadows. Once you’ve made it to the top, you will get to see:
- The legendary Karun Khu (6,977 meters), Tupopdan Peak (6,106 meters), Mumhil Sar (7,343 meters), and Lughar Sar (7,200 meters).
- Observe mesmerizing views of the Passu Cathedrals far in the background.
- And view the Attabad Lake, Gulmit, and Shishket village from a different angle.
You will spend the night in camps at Shawshaw Meadows.
Day 03: Trek to Shagdhhail - Matalgi and to Beildi Hail.
On the third day of the Beldihail Meadows Trek, you will continue the journey for an additional 6 hours to reach the beautiful meadows. On this day, the trail takes you up two challenging slopes that you have to ascend. As you reach the summit of the second slope, you will arrive at Shagdhhail and get the first glimpse of Beldihail Meadows. The view from Shagdhhail is worth observing.
Continue the journey, cross crystal clear streams, waterfalls, and beautiful pastures before you arrive at Matalgi. Push further along the trek until you reach the Beldihail area. As you enter the Beldihail section, you will cross crystal clear water streams and lush green grasslands, and you will be greeted with mesmerizing views of Rakaposhi Peak. Cover the last slope to arrive at the Beldihail Alga, the point where you will stay the night in camps.
Day 04: Spend the day exploring Beldihail Meadows.
On this day of the Beldihail Trek, spend the entire day exploring the beautiful pasture. Begin your day with the golden hour of the sunrise that illuminates the snow-capped peaks of Rakaposhi, Diran, and Spantik. Hike to Yashwod (a man-made stream which was built to fetch water for the horses); you can take a refreshing bath here.
Hike past Gulmo Gozz, a patch of grass named after a shepherdess. Explore the Qaybar that features wild thyme, beautiful below Viola Flowers, called Amber in the Wakhi language. Spend the evening watching the high mountain peaks of the Karakoram.
Day 05: Trek back to Attabad village and drive to Karimabad Hunza.
On this day, you will trek back to Attabad village. The descent is much easier and requires less effort and energy. While hiking through the village, you will come across the location where a landslide blocked the Hunza River, thus giving birth to Attabad Lake.
Take the jeep ride from the village and drive towards the Attabad Tunnel. Continue the journey towards Karimabad and spend the evening in comfort at Eagles Nest Hotel.
Day 06: Fly back home.
During the last day of the journey, witness the mighty Rakaposhi Peak one last time as the first ray of sunlight illuminates the snow-capped tower. Drive towards Gilgit Airport early in the morning. Conclude your Beldihail Meadows Trek and board the scenic flight towards Islamabad.
