Itinerary - Zerave Gulmit Trek
Outlined is the detailed itinerary of the Zerave Gulmit Trek. The plan highlights attractions that you will see and experience during the trek.
Morning:
Embark on the most thrilling one-day trekking journey in Gulmit village. Drive from Gulmit Center to the Kamaris area, crossing Laksh, Qulha, Dalgiram, and Odber - the neighborhood in Gulmit. As you arrive at Kamaris, visit the Helipad area that offers the best view of Passu Cones, Gulmit, Shishket, and Attabad Lake.
After enjoying the view from the Helipad Kamaris, hike to the nearest restaurant - the Kamaris Restaurant, run by Mr. Aziz from the neighborhood. The restaurant is famous for a local dish called Harisa, prepared by slowly boiling wheat grains and meat for more than six hours.
Afternoon:
Continue the trek towards Zerave. From the outskirts of Kamaris, the trail follows an ascent before you arrive at Zerave, the spring and autumn pasture of Gulmit. Continue the trek towards Kuk, the spring from where the valley below gets the water.
Trek further and cover the second ascent to Zuihail. The name Zuihail comes from the first word, Zui, which means a pool. The stream flowing down from the melted snow creates a beautiful lake at the valley floor. As you arrive at Zuihail after covering the steep ascent, get the first glimpse of both the Gulmit Glacier and Shisper Peak.
Continue the journey onward and cover the last ascent to Bokhter. This small section of the trek provides you with the best view of Gulmit Glacier and Shisper Peak. Apart from the glacier view, witness the pasture surrounded by a carpet of lush green grass and mountainous trees. In Wakhi, it's called Chikor. Here you will be served the packed lunch that you can enjoy with the best view and tranquility.
After refueling, trek further to the Jumter Meadows. The Jumter section of the Zerave Gulmit Trek offers the closest view of the Gulmit White Glacier. As you arrive next to the glacier, you will witness the most exhilarating scenery that is out of this world. Experience the cool breeze flowing your way from the ice beds and enjoy a peaceful rest surrounded by blue Amber flowers, as they are called in the Wakhi language.
Evening:
During the final moments of the Zerave Gulmit Trek, witness the sunset painting a beautiful golden glow on the Gulmit Glacier and Shisper Peak. Enjoy the chilling breeze of the glacier slowly cooling your body. At sunset, the temperature drops quickly, and we recommend you carry a hoody to warm up your body.
After sunset, begin the return journey towards Kamaris Gulmit following the trail back to Bokhtar, Zuilhail, Kuk, and Zerave. After arriving at the valley floor, our driver will be waiting for you. Following the road, drive past Odber, Dalgiram, Qulha, and Laksh. Enjoy the evening at your hotel in Center Gulmit.
